Believe it or not, we are at the halfway point of Lent. Three weeks from today will be Easter Sunday. Today, the Church encourages us to rejoice (Laetare), not because we are at the midpoint of Lent, but because the events of our salvation draw near. Our Lenten journey is similar to the Israelites in today’s first reading. God provided them with manna in the desert. Upon arriving in the Promised Land, they had an entirely new diet. As we journey through our “desert,” God is supplying us with the graces we need. It is our responsibility to use them so that we arrive at our promised land ( Easter) new and remade in the image of Christ.
