Humility is one of the great Christian virtues. It helps us avoid the sins of pride and envy by keeping us in the proper relationship with God. True humility understands that He has given each of us blessings and talents. In our gratitude for them, we use them for God’s glory and the benefit of others.

As the first reading reminds us, the more we practice humility, the more   favor we will have with God. This makes perfect sense: If we use the talents he gives us, and are grateful to him for them, he will be more likely to give us more blessings!
