February 12, 2022In this weekend’s first reading the Lord sends a strong message through the prophet Jeremiah: If you rely only on yourself, you are not (and most likely will not) growing closer to me. For those of us with self-reliant, pioneer attitude, this is a difficult pill to swallow.
Yet, if we truly want to succeed in any endeavor, spiritually or temporally, the place to begin is with God, not ourselves. As he promised, if we trust in him we will bear fruit. If we find that difficult to believe, maybe we should give it a try!
