Every year on the First Sunday of Lent, the gospel selection is Jesus’ temptation in the desert. As we begin our Lenten practices, it is reassuring to know that Jesus underwent temptations just like us.
Temptations, if we reflect on them, tell us a lot about ourselves. The devil will always begin with our weakest area (he doesn’t want to work any harder than needed). If we have a constant temptation, it is usually a sign we have issues to address in that area of our spiritual life.
Finally, remember that we will (most likely) always have temptations. That’s not a bad thing, considering that the devil doesn’t have to tempt those people he already has!
