As we near the mid point of Lent, hopefully you are seeing results from your practices and penances. Today’s second reading reminds us why we are doing this. St. Paul tells the Corinthians (a Greek community, steeped in philosophy) that, “the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.” We strive to improve ourselves, not because we are trying to impress other people. Our goal is to become more like Christ. The more we advance toward our goal, the more wisdom and strength (spiritual) we gain.
