As we near the end of Advent season, the readings change emphasis to prepare us for the commemoration of our Savior’s birth later this week. The Church waits in darkness (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) for the fulfillment of the promised Messiah? Little did they know in their day how wrong their assumptions would be for the arrival of the One who would set them free.
   In preparation for our Savior’s birth, may our hearts be open to welcome him. May we put aside our assumptions, so his grace as Emmanuel will fill us with his love.
