The story of the burning bush in today’s first reading is a familiar one. There are many interesting aspects in this scene: God calls Moses, reveals His divine name, commissions Moses to lead the people to the Promised land. There is, however, one aspect that is often overlooked and may help us during our Lenten journey.
When Moses set out that fateful day to pasture the flock, he had no idea he would have an encounter with God. As framatic as the event was, Moses was still attentive and receptive to God. Even though our daily interaction with God may not be as spectacular as the burning bush, hopefully we will be as attentive and responsive as Moses was.
