September 19, 2020If we think back to the gospel three weeks ago, when Jesus scolds Peter for not wanting him to suffer, Jesus tells him that he is thinking like humans, not like God. Today’s parable is a test to see if anything has sunk into our noggins.
Of course, it’s not “fair” that all the workers received the same pay. God is not about being “fair.” God is about being generous. This parable reflects just how much God wants us with him in heaven. Hopefully, our gratitude for God’s generosity will inspire us to follow his instructions more closely.
