We are on the home stretch to Christmas. There are many things to do before the celebration of Our Lord’s birth. Taking a break seems like a far off dream. Yet, that is what this week calls us to do. We are guided by the readings to reflect on the significance of the spectacular event we will celebrate on Saturday. In the second reading from the letter to the Hebrews, we are reminded, twice, of Jesus’ desire for our salvation, “ I come to do your will, O God.” The baby we celebrate will become our savior by doing the will of the Father. By pondering all that entailed, hopefully we will be better disciples of Jesus.
