With today’s feast we conclude the joy-filled Christmas Season. Last week we celebrated Epiphany, which literally means “appearance.” In reality, the Christmas Season is a series of Epiphanies: Shepherds (outcasts), magi (foreigners/ gentiles) and today, his own people at his baptism. We don't know how many people besides Jesus and John the Baptist heard the words from heaven. It surely would have been impressive. As disciples of Jesus, we may not be privileged to behold such magnificent “appearances.” However, hopefully we will be attentive to the little moments of grace that God gives us so we will remain faithful to the One with whom the Father was well pleased.
