SAFE ENVIRONMENT... what does it mean?
In 2003, all dioceses/eparchies were mandated by the Charter for Protection of Chidlren and Young People to implement safe environment programs. These programs mucst include:
A written code of conduct for employees and volunteers who work with youth people.
Training programs for adults whose duties include ongoing, unsupervised contact with minors (such as parents, ministers, educators, church personnel and volunteers); training should include materials on prevention, identification, and response and reporting of abuse.
Training programs for children and young people that include materials on personal safety.
A mechanism for background checks of all personnel who have regular contact with minors.
Classes for Sacremental Prep have begun. Children must be registered before they can attend class.
Due to spacing requirements, no registrations will take place during class time. If your child was not baptized at Our Lady of the Valley Parish (Caldwell, Homedale, Parma, Marsing), we will need a copy of your child's baptismal certificate.
Classes for 1st Communion or Confirmation are on break until January 24, 2021, and then resume in-person on:
Sunday (10am in English) Caldwell, or Domingo (a las 1pm en español) Caldwell, or Wednesday (5:30-6:30pm in English) Caldwell
(We are in great need of instructors/assistants for Wednesday classes. Please pray on this and consider this critical ministry.)
Parents:Our parish goal is to Know, Love and Serve God and our Neighbor. A few years ago, we discovered barriers for families being able to fully engage this goal. We wanted to make our programs work together for families. Adult Ministry is a great way to learn and grow in your faith while your children are in class. We provide child care for children 6 months to 3 years in the Cry Room for parents attending adult ministry sessions on Sundays after Masses. A Parent Contract must be filled out the first time you leave your child with the care providers.
We need a tremendous amount of partnership from parishioners to make this change possible and sustainable—partnership in small groups, teaching, snacks, setup, cleanup, greeting, coordination, and logistics. Please consider volunteering. Your commitment can be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or sporadic. We hope you will take advantage of these changes and engage your entire family in our parish this year. May the Lord guide our head, heart, and hands as Family Ministry begins. A new Medical/Liability waiver must be filled out for each child in the sacramental prep (in-person) program. You can download one for each child, fill out and bring with you or they will be available at registration and in the parish office.
What is Family Ministry?
Que es "Ministerio Familiar?"
Adults
For families with children PreK-12 that are interested in continuing religious education (not needing a sacrament this year), we are offering an at-home program. Children will still need to be registered. If your child attended Family Ministry during the past year, you will receive a Flocknote. Reply YES if you'd like to receive the at-home program. If you are new to the parish, please call or come in to the parish office to register.
