In today’s first reading we have a great example for our spiritual life. Elijah is told that God will pass by. The “normal” Old Testament manifestations of God--wind, earthquake and fire, do not reveal God. It is in the whisper that Elijah recognizes the presence of God.
   For us, the same is often true. We expect great and spectacular acts by God. However, most of time He speaks to us in whispers. Like Elijah, if we are attentive, we too will experience God’s presence in our lives more often.
