October 10, 2020In the longer version of today’s gospel, the recently invited man to the wedding feast is thrown out because he was not dressed properly. We may think that since he was just invited, the king should cut him some slack. Wedding feasts in Jesus’ time lasted for many days. The man had time to go home and change his clothes, but didn’t.
God gives us time to change our lives, as well. We don’t know how much time we have; but, we do know that it will come to an end. Hopefully, we will have a little more urgency preparing for our encounter with the King than the man in the gospel had.
