In today’s first reading, we have the beautiful vision of Isaiah beholding the glory of God. It must have been quite a sight: Angels flying around, smoke rising, vibrations shaking the place. The liturgical song we use at Mass comes from this vision: Holy, Holy (holier), Holy (most holy). It is easy to understand how Isaiah could get caught up in the action. I wonder if later on in his ministry, when things were not going well, whether or not Isaiah regretted saying, “Here I am, send me.” Most likely, we all have had thoughts of, “Why did I make this choice?” Although Isaiah had a rough go of it later on, he stuck with God. While it wasn't easy for him, God gave him the graces and strength to do what he asked of him. The same holds true for us.
