One common human trait is that we often seem more concerned about others people’s business than our own. In recent years, social media has compounded the situation to levels beyond belief. It serves as a distraction so we won’t have to examine our own lives. Yet, that is exactly what we need to do. In today’s second reading Paul tells the Corinthians, “ If you do not repent, you will all perish as they did.” This is not a scare tactic by Paul. He is simply stating the facts – don’t get caught up in other people’s affairs, take care of your own. Great advice not just for Lent, but for everyday of our lives.
