Isn’t obvious the Lord is Risen? Not to all people. Many people are happy to seek what is here below on this earth than to seek what is above. Some people continue to live with the old yeast of their sins, concentrating more in this life and in the life to come. The mission entrusted to us His followers is to profess Jesus as Risen from the dead just like Peter did. Peter was not an educated person, and certainly not eloquent since sometimes he spoke with the two sides of his mouth. We also have limitations, but we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us be courageous witnesses of the Resurrection of the Lord. There are some signs the Holy Spirit guides us in this mission. We are called to wait for others as they grow in their understanding of the resurrection. This is what happens in the gospel with the disciple who ran faster, he waited for Peter to come to the tomb of the Lord. For some it will be easier to accept the Lord is risen indeed, but others will take a little bit more convincing, and we should wait for them. St. Paul reminds the strong helping the weak. Another sign the Holy Spirit is working in us is to raise our voices to proclaim Jesus as the Risen Lord. St Paul reminds no one can say Jesus is Lord except moved by the Spirit. Like Peter we are called to address those around us and confidently proclaim the message of salvation, which has as cornerstone the resurrection of our Lord. Yes, Jesus travelled a lot all over Judea and Galilee but that is not his greatest feat. Yes, Jesus went about healing and oppressing the devil, but he is not only a miracle worker or an exorcist. All these are important, and some would be content to just call Jesus a great man anointed by God, but what gives meaning to the faith is the great deed of Jesus is his Paschal Mystery, dying, and rising on the third day in according to the scripture. He resurrected! And if He did, so am I by his power! We are called to be His witnesses of His resurrection. We do not need to be overqualified; Peter hardly was. We are given a mission but before we start, we ourselves must be truly convinced this is true, and when we are lacking in this conviction, we can always call upon the Holy Spirit to strengthen us. We must not linger too much in doubt, for proclaiming His Resurrection matters for the salvation of the world. It matters so that we “shall not die, but live” and live eternally.
