In today’s gospel, Jesus gives his disciples the perfect recipe for life, “ Do to others as you would have them do to you. ” It has been more than 1,930 years since St. Luke wrote those words. One would think that by now society would have implemented this instruction. As we are well aware, society is going in the opposite direction. The self-centeredness of the world today may cause us to lose hope. We may lapse into despair, “ what’s the use?”However, there is hope! This hope lies in you reading this. If each of us decides to take this seriously, our goodness will rub off on others. Although each person has to change him/herself, maybe our good example will help effect a positive change in others.
