In Mark’s gospel, Jesus’ life is one of almost constant action. After the call of the first apostles, he went to Capernaum where he drove out the unclean spirit. Today, he heals Simon’s mother-in–law, as well as the rest of the town! Following all of this activity, Jesus took time to pray. He gives us this model for us to imitate. So often, we just keep going and going. All this does is drain us of energy. To fulfill our missions, as Jesus fulfilled his, it behooves us to follow his example. Do what we need to do, but also make time to recharge.
