The second reading concludes with one of St. Paul’s common professions of the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The central point of our faith - one God, three separate and distinct persons - is a mystery. No human has been able to explain God completely. Unfortunately, during his public ministry, Jesus did not completely explain the exact relationship of the Trinity. He did, however, give us a few insights.
For us, one the great examples of the Holy Trinity is the unity of love between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Their perfect love for each other is what we strive to imitate here on earth. Even though we may not attain their level, it is well worth the effort to try. For if we keep trying, one day we will be able to see how it truly works when we are in heaven!
