In today’s second reading, Paul reminds the Corinthians that one inescapable aspect of our faith is the judgment of our souls by God. Most of the time we cringe at the idea because it usually has a negative connotation. However, Paul is very clear about this. We determine how the judgments will go. St. Robert Bellarmine wrote a short treatise on the art of dying well. His premise is very simple; If we live a good life, we will have a happy death. St. Paul’s message is similar: If we want to go to heaven, live a good life. As the saying goes, “We will have no one to blame, but ourselves."
