Many times Protestants will accuse Catholics of putting too much emphasis on doing good works instead of faith. Chapter two of James’ letter (today’s second reading) gives the reason. This could be the origin of the saying, “Talk is cheap.” To have faith is to put it into action. Hence, the Catholic Church is the world’s largest health care system, educational provider and charitable organization. If I say I have faith, what am I doing to show I’m not just blowing hot air?
