The second reading for the next month will come from Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. Ephesus was an important city in the ancient world. It was a sprawling city, commercial center, home to the temple of Artemis (one of the seven wonders of the ancient world) and had a large Jewish population. Paul writes the community that before they accepted the faith, they were separated from Christ, whether pagan or Jew. However, now they are united together through the saving action of Christ. Their responsibility, and ours, is to help each as we journey together toward heaven.
