It is obvious some people no longer believe in the resurrection in the way they are living their lives. Shortsighted. Living only for this world, “life is what you make it so let’s make it rock” type of mentality. Certainly, there was a rock, and it needed to be removed from the tomb of Jesus for He is living in the glory of the resurrection. Many of us have big rocks of doubt still blocking our relationship with Jesus while in this life. Unfortunately, we do not know where to put Jesus in our lives, what place to give him. We don’t know if we can believe someone was raised from the dead and not only for a short while but to a new life of resurrection eternally. We haven’t seen a resurrection of a person in our lifetimes, in fact it’s been about 2,000 years from the event of the resurrection of Jesus, and no one was even there the precise moment when He resurrected. Thinking in such a way only demonstrates our lack of faith, and certainly the name Christian is too big for us to even claim. The resurrection of Jesus is the basic core of our faith. If we don’t believe in his resurrection, then we shouldn’t even dare to call ourselves Christian. If we don’t believe in His resurrection then we are most pitiable people, wasting our time and our lives. There are Christians who have doubts just like Thomas. Not to all people has the resurrection has taken hold, but for us who claim to be Christian it is a necessity and a way of life. We are not called be doubting “Thomases” but to be His witnesses and proclaim to others guided by Holy Spirit the forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life in the Risen Christ. We are called to reaffirm the genuineness of our faith by affirming and proclaiming Jesus Christ crucified yet risen for the salvation of souls. May we be first comforted by the presence of the Risen Christ, may His peace dwell upon us so that we may be sent to strengthen others in their belief in the resurrection, so they too may have life in his name. Our lives will only be complete when we live with faith the resurrection of the Lord.
