Today we celebrate the final Sunday of the Church year. A relatively new feast (1925), Christ the King was moved to its current position in 1969. It not only concludes the current year, it prepares us to begin anew next week with Advent. In the U.S., the notion of a King ruling us is not very popular. This week we celebrate those who left the rule of a monarch to come to this land and form a new society. However, the King we seek to serve offers us eternal life. Unlike earthly kings who rule by force, Christ leads by example. Since his kingdom has no end, it behooves us to follow him.
