There are three persons in one God. This much can be said about the mystery of the Holy Trinity without getting into complications. It is because the human mind is trying to decipher the divine. There have been severe mistakes on the nature of God, called heresies, throughout the history of Christianity, with limited and mistaken men trying to resolve this great mystery of faith. These heresies live even unto today with different names. It is best not to try to “figure it out” God, but rather to adore what is called the tremendous and fascinating mystery of who God is. I have said it many times, “Who God is, can be discovered in prayer!” More succinctly, “God is revealed in prayer.” The way of faith is to dwell in the mystery of the Holy Trinity without trying to resolve it. It’s as good as its going to get. Love helps dwell in this great mystery, feeling a sense of comfort and strength. The mystery of the Holy Trinity does not bother, does not puzzle, does not ask us to break our heads, but invites us to enter the sea of God’s love. A sea is big, and it cannot be put into a hole in the sand. A sea also has waves that can be comforting, moving back and forth. God’s love is huge and comforting to dwell on it. It is moving gently in this love and knowing all will be okay what matters. God’s love can be felt in the calmness, in the peace that is given when in God’s grandeur presence. The assurance of faith in the Trinity is then given in prayer. No deciphering, only allowing God’s love to be revealed in prayer. God’s love reveals who God’s is. God reveals Himself in prayer. This how to approach the mystery of the Holy Trinity, on our knees in adoration. When we start to love the Trinity there are some signs in our lives of faith of that love. First, if we love the Holy Trinity, we will keep God’s statues and commandments. They are given out of love by God, and we keep them out of love for God. If we believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we will keep God’s commandments and we shall proper. Second, if we love the Trinity, we will continue to search for God in prayer, calling God our Father, our Abba, led by the Spirit. The divine intimacy in prayer helps to reveal God’s love for us, and in turn, we call God with love, “Abba!” The Holy Spirit himself gives us the words, the inspiration, to enter prayer and dwell in the divine mystery of who God is. God helps us to pray to His very self, and like a son or daughter respond in the language of love. Third, if we love the Trinity, we will share the Holy Trinity in the missionary activity in the life of the church so many people can come to the waters of baptism. The Great Commission from the Son was to make sure all nations know about the Holy Trinity and be baptized in its name. There are some out there who are baptize in the name of three different gods, or others who reject the Trinitarian formula, if we love in the Trinity (as revealed in Sacred Scripture) we will defend it and proclaim it to all nations as commanded and baptism will follow in the valid way. In the end, the Trinity is always explored but never resolved. The Trinity is best understood (to a degree) when using Love as a compass in prayer.
