January 1, 2022We continue the joyful Christmas season with today’s celebration of the Epiphany. In a very real sense, this is our feast. The magi were gentiles “from the East” (outside Jewish law). St. Matthew uses their journey and arrival as a powerful example for his community ( comprised mainly of Jewish converts to Christianity). The insinuation is, “If the magi were willing to go through all this to worship Jesus, what are you willing to do?” It is an important question for our reflection. What we decide to do, or not, will be an important factor when we arrive at the gates of heaven.
