For the first time in this Easter season we can see a church that may resemble more one like our contemporary times. There were two main groups, the Hellenists and the Hebrews who were not happy about their settings. There were more people including widows, more work and not everyone felt attended. This showed the church was growing and the demographics were changing, now there were widows as well. This constant change of groups and more cultures present shows the universality of the Church. For the first time we see a complaint, of myriads of complaints that were to follow throughout the ages. From some very legitimate to some of the most trivial. We live in a litigious world where complaining is the mode. There were problems with logistics however a remedy was at hand by the leadership of the Church. Even today because the Catholic Church is a big institution there are problems that happen but we cannot forget that the Church is not just a corporation or organization. The Church continues to be guided by the Holy Spirit so the church leadership will also provide solutions to ongoing problems. Many people continue to complain but few continue to acknowledge the Holy Spirit still guides the Church. It is easier for them to say we do not know where the church is going just like Thomas said of Jesus and jump out of the wagon. See how the church has many problems! They leave. They stop attending. They fail to realize that God wants to make them living stones, and build them into a spiritual house to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. It's not going to be perfect but why let the humans of the church deprive us from being fashioned into a beautiful house precious in the eyes of God? My complaint may be important but my salvation more! How long more will it take us to be convinced the Risen Christ is with his Church in spite the problems? How long will Jesus have to say I have been here all along and you still don't know me? Jesus called us out of darkness into his wonderful light to the Father's house, don't let any human problem take that away. Allow the church with its faults and all, help you so you may become truly a people of His own.
