In today’s gospel of Jesus healing the man born blind, there is a sad part to the miraculous healing. After the man received sight for the first time in his life, the Pharisees complained because the miracle took place on the Sabbath. They were so stuck in their narrow interpretation of the Law that they were unable to praise God for the miracle that took place.
It is easy sometimes to fall in the trap of the Pharisees. We, unknowingly at times, narrow our spiritual field of the vision. If God’s actions don’t occur where we think they should, we, like the Pharisees, get upset. As we continue through Lent, may our eyes of faith be more attentive to God’s graces, and may we be quick to give him thanks and praise.
